FAQs of CONCRETE PERMEABILITY TESTER - AS PER IRS:
Q: How does the Concrete Permeability Tester evaluate concrete permeability?
A: The tester measures the movement of water through concrete specimens under controlled pressure, following IRS: T-48 and IS: 3085 standards. It provides quantitative results for permeability, essential for assessing concretes durability and water resistance.
Q: What specimens and test parameters does the equipment support?
A: It accommodates three specimens, each 150 mm in diameter and 150 mm in height. The pressure can be set up to 10 kg/cm, with customizable test widths and semi-automatic or manual operation, as per IRS requirements.
Q: When and where should the tester be used?
A: This equipment is ideal for use in construction quality assurance labs, research institutes, and manufacturing facilities. It is suited for routine testing of concretes permeability as part of standard quality control, especially in environments needing IRS or IS compliance.
Q: What is the process for operating the Concrete Permeability Tester?
A: Users prepare the concrete specimens, place them in the test cells, and connect the necessary gauges and hoses. The operator then sets the desired pressure and initiates water flow. Results are recorded using the analog or digital gauge, with safety features protecting against overpressure.
Q: How does using this tester benefit concrete manufacturers and contractors?
A: It ensures concrete products meet stringent permeability criteria, reducing risk of water ingress and structural degradation. Reliable test outcomes support compliance with relevant standards, promote longevity of constructions, and improve overall quality assurance.
Q: What safety and durability features does the equipment offer?
A: The tester incorporates a pressure release valve, rugged seals, and corrosion-resistant materials. Its robust mild steel construction and epoxy coating enhance durability, while safety mechanisms protect both users and specimens during test operations.
